Monday 21st November we hosted our first guest speaker from the Speakers for Schools network. Rachel Heenan from Capsticks Law Firm, she is a senior partner in the firm. She spoke with around 200 pupils about different careers in Law as well as discussing the importance of resilience and having high aspirations

  • BBC - Share Your Story

Thursday 1st December saw the BBC visiting Forge Valley as part of the Share Your Story programme celebrating 100 years of the BBC. 2 BBC ambassadors spoke to our pupils throughout the course of the day about their stories from education to their chosen career path which took them to where they are today. Pupils had the opportunity to ask questions about the ambassadors’ stories as well as working at the BBC.

  • Mcintosh Mortgage Associates

On Tuesday 10th January we welcomed a guest speaker Chloe Mcintosh from Mcintosh Mortgage Associates, to speak about all things Finance. Chloe discussed her career path and the routes she took to become of the leading mortgage brokers in her area and how it wasn’t something she chose to do straight from leaving education. Pupils across the school had the opportunity to ask question and to get a better understanding to what they can do if they were to go down this career choice.

  • Justin Rollins author of The Lost Boyz

We were lucky enough to have guest speaker Justin Rollins come into school on Wednesday 22nd March. He gave a presentation to our Sixth Form and a select number of pupils throughout Y8-Y10 about his personal story being a former gang leader who turned his back on crime, the book he has written about his days as a young offender called The Lost Boyz. Pupils were able to hear an engaging talk about knife crime, youth justice issues and mental health, and how he has overcome it all and the lesson which he has learnt and wish he had learnt earlier on in his life.
