Physical Education

The PE department at Forge Valley provides a broad and engaging curriculum that aims to encompass the interests of all students.  

We forge positive relationships with all students and encourage them to challenge themselves to achieve their personal best in every PE lesson.

Key Stage 3 Curriculum Content

All students have two 1-hour lessons of PE each week.  Students undertake a wide variety of sports over the course of Key Stage 3, examples include:

• Football

• Rugby

• Netball

• Hockey

• Fitness

• Fitness Testing

• Badminton

• Basketball

• Table Tennis

• Handball

• Athletics

• Cross Country

• Cricket

• Rounders

• Softball

• Tennis

• Gymnastics

• Dance.

Key Stage 4 - Core Curriculum Content

All students have one 1-hour lesson of PE each week.  Students undertake a variety of sports over the course of Key Stage 4, examples include:

• Fitness

• Handball

• Badminton

• Basketball

• Football

• Table Tennis

• Rounders

• Softball

• Athletics.

Key Stage 4 - BTEC Award

Students can choose to complete a further qualification in the BTEC Level 2 Award in Sport. 

BTEC sport is a vocational qualification designed to teach key concepts of sport and sports participation. It is assessed through a mixture of controlled assessment (75%) and written examination (25%).
